What to wear

From a photographer’s point of view, here is what to wear to your photo session.

Whether you are planning your outfits for engagement photos, family photos, or even senior photos, I always suggest my clients wear solid neutral colors. Wearing colors such as white, tan, or black will help your photos look more appealing in my own opinion. No matter what location you choose, these colors will help to ensure you are not clashing with the colors of your background.

If this session is for engagement photos or couples photos, I suggest sticking to the 3 color rule. In this case, the couple picked Black, White, and Tan. I love this color combo so much! Especially in locations that have a lot of green tones. The 3 color rule will also help to ensure you and your significant other match without wearing the exact same thing such as jeans and white t shirts. Maybe try having one of you in another color.

Textures are also always a great option instead of prints or patters. Wearing stripes in photos can sometimes distort your images, causing them to be almost un editable. Maybe swap your stripe shirt for a knit top or cute crochet sweater. If you are shopping around for options, why not make a cute date night out of it? You could take your love to the thrift store and find some really cool pieces. If you’re in the Utah area Savers in Midvale always has a great inventory and if you don’t find anything there, try the one in Draper, it’s huge!
