If you’re dreaming of an elopement that blends breathtaking landscapes, modern city vibes, and easy logistics, Salt Lake City, Utah is one of the most underrated—but absolutely magical—places to say “I do.” With mountains on all sides, unique natural backdrops minutes from downtown, and wedding-friendly laws, SLC has everything couples need to craft an intimate, stress-free celebration.

Whether you’re envisioning mountain romance or an urban-chic micro wedding, SLC gives you endless possibilities.

The Bonneville Salt Flats are a bucket-list location for adventurous and artistic couples. Located about 1.5 hours west of Salt Lake City, this vast, shimmering landscape looks like something from a dream—perfect for creating editorial, fashion-forward, and ultra-unique elopement photos.
Why It’s Perfect for Elopements:
Pro Tip from your photographer (me): Want to elope at the salt flats without driving all the way to Wendover? As a photographer, I pride myself on creating personalized elopement packages that include location scouting. Looking at the photos above, did you guess the Bonneville Salt Flats? Well, it’s actually not. This location is one of my absolute favorite secret spots just a quick 35-minute drive from the Salt Lake City International Airport! This location is perfect for couples wanting to elope at the salt flats but also not spend their entire evening driving.

The Utah State Capitol offers a sophisticated, classic atmosphere that feels timeless and elegant. Perfect for couples who want an architectural backdrop without needing a formal venue. The grounds feature marble pillars, manicured lawns, and seasonal blooms.
Why It’s Perfect for Elopements:

Big Cottonwood Canyon, just 30-45 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, is an alpine paradise. Home to towering cliffs, flowing rivers, pine forests, and iconic lakes like Silver Lake and Lake Mary, this canyon offers endless elopement backdrops with cute cabins available for nightly rentals nearby.
