Little Dell Reservoir

Little Dell is located about 20–25 minutes east of Salt Lake City, just off I-80 near Parleys Canyon. This spot offers rolling hills, calm water, and wide open skies. It’s a great spot for couples who want a natural and outdoorsy feel to their gallery. The parking is also very easy to find and not a far walk to any of the beautiful locations here. Please note that no swimming or wading in the water is allowed, as it is also a drinking water source.

The Utah State Capitol Building

The state capitol is one of the best locations for engagement photos in Salt Lake City. The Grand marble staircases and arched windows give your photos a timeless and elegant feel. There is no fee to enter and the building is open 7 days a week. To make the most of your session, also plan to take some photos outdoors around the building.

Big Cottonwood Canyon

If you love the outdoors and want rocky mountain views in your photos, then Big cottonwood canyon should be at the top of your list! If you are planning your engagements in the winter time, Big cottonwood is a winter wonderland showing off snow capped peaks and soft snow covered pine trees.

Jordan Pines Campground

Jordan Pines Campground is one of the most popular spots in Big Cottonwood Canyon, especially in the Summer. Just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, this location has so much to offer. Being one of the more popular spots in the area, prepare to have to share the space with multiple other photographers and clients alike. Parking can also be a little tricky. There is an easily accessible lot, but very limited spaces.

The Great Saltair

The Great Saltair offers one of the most unique backdrops for engagement photos in Salt Lake City. Located along the shores of the Great Salt Lake, this location will give many versatile options. The walk from the parking lot to the water can take some time so be sure to give yourself an extra 10 minutes at the beginning of your session. If you drive down the road a little bit farther, there is also a place called Black Rock Beach that is also a great option.
