A bridal styled shoot.
This week I hosted a bridal styled shoot in a local studio. Styled shoots have become such a creative outlet for me over the past few years. If you’re a photographer and you want to build your portfolio without taking clients to start then joining a styled shoot would be very beneficial.
For this shoot I had an awesome team of vendors including one of my favorite local florists. My friend Ashley is the owner and founder of a small business called Collective Floral. She is amazing! Just look at how beautiful these bouquets turned out.
The studio where the shoot was held is also top of my list. It’s called Studio Elevn and it’s right off of the freeway in down town Salt Lake City. The studio has amazing natural light and seamless backdrops. Plus the soft white colors in this space always give the best shadows in photos.
If you ever decide you want to host a bridal styled shoot, I suggest looking on Amazon for dresses. This dress and veil were purchased on Amazon for less than $40! The quality is great and measurements were perfect.
Another great thing about styled shoots is the education. When you work side by side with other photographers, you learn so many new things like how to pose and direct your clients. When I first started doing wedding photography, posing clients was first on my to-learn list. Over the years, posing people has become one of my favorite parts of bridal sessions. You can create very artistic photos just in the way you have your clients stand.
Lastly, to complete a bridal styled shoot you will need a flat lay station. This should consist of wedding invitations, wedding shoes, wedding rings, a bouquet, ribbon, and anything else to make it artistic.
