Every time I’m asked to photograph a surprise proposal, I immediately feel so excited for the couples. A little back story- a few years ago I met August and Comet during a styled shoot that I attended as a photographer, The shoot was at a place called Pink Lake here in Utah. I was so excited for this shoot because I had heard so much about Pink Lake and I had just bought a DJI mini drone so I just knew I was going to get some awesome photos! Little did I know I would also end up making so many friends at this shoot. August and Comet were the model couple and they were so much fun to work with. I could tell from the moment I met them, they were meant for each other. Since that shoot, I have planned a few creative sessions with them and each time I left the session feeling so fulfilled, if you’re a photographer you totally get what I mean. The type of shoot where you walk away like, damn, I feel so good about these photos I have to go home and edit every single one TONIGHT! Anyway, so when August reached out to me and brought up wanting to propose to Comet my heart quite literally jumped in my chest, I was so happy for them.
When a date was decided, I reached out to Comet to see if they would be interested in modeling for me again, just a casual style couple’s session to test out a new location for a potential new client and of course the answer was a yes! We decided on a Sunday later in the month so that gave August plenty of time to get the ring in hand. We started the session off as normal, just some cute walking shots, hand in hand, being cute, and cuddling up with each other. It started to rain so we found some cover under the cutest little bakery archway and that is where August got down on one knee and read a beautiful little love note before popping the question.
So many happy tears were shed along with a “YES” and with that, they were engaged! We took a minute to soak in all of the feelings before taking a few last photos.
The rain stopped just long enough for us to get some really sweet photos running around in the road with the sun beaming down behind them.
They walked up to this shoot as a couple in love and left as Fiancés!
